The Main Street Building Improvement Fund has successfully assisted more than 25 rehabilitation projects in the district, leveraging more than $250,000 in private investment. Czech Village New Bohemia Main Street District seeks to provide business owners and sponsored tenants with assistance to permanently improve their structures for the betterment of the district. The goal is to provide financial assistance to property owners and sponsored tenants who demonstrate a strong dedication to district revitalization. The following Projects were completed in 2018 with help from the Czech Village-New Bohemia Main Street Building Improvement Fund.
Mad Modern: 227 16th Ave SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401 – Received $4,000 Grant
Missing metal “terra cotta style” roof tiles were installed, to complete the Mission style building.
The garage door was upgraded to a historically appropriate glass door.
Stucco repair work was completed on the side of the building.
Little Bohemia: 1317 3rd Street SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52401 – Received $4,000 Grant
On the side entrance of the building, woodwork was repaired on the door and windows & completed with a fresh coat of paint.
