Named Best Group in both the Live Ireland Awards and Tradition In Review, The Outside Track has emerged as one of the top Celtic acts in the world. A stunning synthesis of youthful virtuosity and boundless energy, the quintet’s marriage of Canadian, Scottish and Irish music has been rapturously received around the globe. With band members hailing from County Cork and Nova Scotia, Edinburgh and Cape Breton, this is an international outfit united by its love of traditional music, as well as its commitment to creating new songs on that foundation. On fiddle, accordion, harp, guitar and flute, plus stirring vocals and dazzling step-dance, these five young virtuosos display a breathtaking vitality and an unmistakable joie de vivre. Each of the players is a master of their instrument, as evidenced by their pedigrees and awards. The lineup comprises Mairi Rankin (Rankin Sisters, Beolach), Teresa Horgan (Fullset), Ailie Robertson (BBC Trad Music Awards), Fiona Black (Fame Academy), and Michael Ferrie (Thalla, Highland Young Guitarist Award). The group’s fifth album, Rise Up, was released to critical raves in December 2018, with Folk Radio proclaiming the disc “a magnificent album that puts The Outside Track firmly in the spotlight as one of the most accomplished bands on the international folk scene.”
