Cedar Rapids — Sept 12, 2017 — Today local Halloween enthusiast Peter Durin announced the theme of “Monsters of the Night” for the inaugural Halloween Parade taking place in New Bohemia District and Czech Village this October.
With the support of Czech Village New Bohemia Main Street District, various sponsors, and a committed group of committee members, the Halloween Parade will give Cedar Rapidians a reason to be out enjoying one of the city’s premier areas on an a spooky October night. The Halloween Parade coincides with a wide range of Halloween-themed events throughout the month of October including Creative Spirit Month in New Bohemia, Halloween Ball at the Double Tree, the Rocky Horror Picture Show at New Bo City Market, a Jack-o-Lantern party at Brewhemia, Zombie Run at Hawkeye Downs, Spooky Saturday Trick or Treat in Czech Village, and more.
“The Czech Village-New Bohemia District is excited to host this event as a fun way to bring the community together and celebrate the holiday. We have an awesome lineup of programming for the weekend and hope guests will explore our many shops and restaurants along the way” said Jennifer Pruden, Executive Director of the Main Street District.
Over 1000 people are expected to either participate in or view the inaugural parade. Althought not mandatory, spectators are asked to join the excitement by arriving in costume to view some of the 40+ floats on the night time parade route.
Floats, sponsorships, and volunteers:
Participants in the parade will be competing for prizes on criteria ranging from “Most Scary Float” to a “Kids Choice” award. To register a float in the Halloween Parade email email@example.com and submit registration form before the October 11th deadline.
Parade staging will begin at 5 p.m. The parade’s festivities begin at 7 p.m. and is expected to be over by 8:30 p.m. At 8:45 an awards ceremony will be heald at the main stage of New Bo City Market.
