Local Emerging Fashion Label, WRITTEN Apparel, to be part of global modeling agency’s
TRIBUTE Fashion Show; sharing a stage and story in common with other notable fashion names
and Cedar Rapids natives, Alanna Arrington and Mary Clarke.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – July 28, 2017 – As the St. Louis based Mother Model Management
comes to town this weekend, Cedar Rapids-based designer, Emily Carlson of WRITTEN Apparel,
is preparing to show her coveted pencil skirt collection amongst global talent in the TRIBUTE
Fashion Event hosted by Cedar Rapids native, Mary Clarke.
Although both based in the Midwest and heavily involved in the fashion industry, Emily and
Mary only recently met by off chance while visiting a local coffee shop. “I was headed to
Brewhemia for a meeting and walked in to see Mary and Jeff Clarke. They were just in town
visiting and happened to be sitting next to my friend Meegan Hofmeister (The Dostal House).
We struck up a conversation with Mary and learned of her vision to bring her amazing TRIBUTE
event to Cedar Rapids.” Carlson explains. “Mary had an incredible vision and I was immediately
excited and wanted to help however possible.”
Emily Carlson, Founder and Creative Director of WRITTEN Apparel, will be the only Iowa based
designer on the runway amongst the likes of designers such as Project Runway’s Michael
Drummond and other Midwest emerging talent. Carlson, who is determined to create a globally
desired and respected fashion brand from Iowa, specializes in the design of statement pencil
skirts. “The pencil skirt has been a reliable staple in women’s wardrobes for decades. I am
elevating the design of this iconic classic, into a modern statement piece.” Carlson notes.

In May, Carlson and the WRITTEN Apparel team moved into The Dostal House in the NewBo
neighborhood of Cedar Rapids. Since then, sales have increased drastically and keeping up with
orders is at the top of the priority list while more and more women become loyalists to the
WRITTEN brand.
The TRIBUTE Fashion Show will take place at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Cedar Rapids
on Saturday July 29 th . The show starts at 8:00 and tickets are still available. More information,
